regular blog readers may notice that this is shorter than the last track listing we posted; we dropped two tracks as we felt the album flowed a lot better without them. we'll put them out in another medium at some point, possibly as free tracks of the week.

hallways of always

another track for our as-yet-untitled fourth album. this is based on a sound sketch we did back in june, but this version was finalised on 9th august 2012.

the fourth logos album

regular blog readers will be aware that we've been busy creating new music for our fourth album. the construction process for this one is slightly different to our previous three albums, in that we're working on multiple tracks simultaneously, shaping each against and in context with the others rather than singling them out and working on them track by track. that said, there are some which we would consider finished.

yes, we know we said that after shamania we'd be taking a break before working on another logos album, in order to focus on other projects, but these new sounds came in unbidden and the best thing to do is to follow them and see where they take us.

tracks in progress or complete include: something witchy, come to now, santa susana blues, the last door, hungry knife, coyotenoia, 23 years in the tombs you made, where rivers ran upside down, infinite soul, the devil's business, hallways of always. there is a clear theme to this album which we'll leave it up to you to guess.

the album doesn't yet have a title.

note that although we've created quite a bit of new music recently, we've not listed everything track by track as we do it - as we did with our previous three albums - as our way of working on this album is rather differnet to how we've worked in the past. we're working on all tracks simultaneously, shaping each against and in context with the others. the few tracks we've listed here are the ones we'd deem 'complete' in their present form. of course, they may well change dramatically as we create other tracks. as before, we record this partly for our own benefit.

since our last news update we've finished the mix of our third album shamania, which will be released as soon as we've fixed the artwork.

we're also arranging cd editions of our three albums gehenna now, ascending a line in the sothis, and shamania. this will be after shamania is released. the shamania timings and track listing will differ to the digital version detailed above.


once shamania is released, darren francis will be taking a break from logos to concentrate on writing projects. this doesn't mean that logos will be put on hold; we'll still be putting out new free tracks of the week, the cd editions mentioned above, and working on tracks for our as-yet-untitled fourth album (which is already in progress). we also have tracks on at least one compilation album coming out this year; more details on those when we can release them.

both our albums gehenna now and ascending a line in the sky to sothis will shortly be available on cd, for those of you who prefer a more physical, tactile medium to their music than downloadable files.

we'll also be making a rather different mix of our third album shamania available on cd in the near future. we say 'different mix' because the album is way too long to fit onto a single disc and rather than splitting it over multiple discs we'd rather reshape the music to fit one disc. this will be available after we've released the album for download.

at last! says the world, and we concur. many of these tracks are nigh two years old.

the more astute amongst you, and regular logos blog readers, will note that a number of tracks from these sessions don't appear in this final listing. we know. it changed a great deal, tracks added, tracks taken away, but this listing is the one that works best. we'll put out the remainder, free tracks of the week or elsewhere; one way or another you'll eventually get to hear them all.

a new track, created 9th june 2012, for an as-yet-untitled future album.

the shamania mix is almost done, and has taken far longer than we were expecting. we'll have more news on that album anon.

Logos News Update June 2012

though it may not seem that way, we've been busy at logos towers. we're still tinkering with the mix to our third album shamania, which we'll put out as soon as we're happy with it. we are also creating new music, and will let you hear some of our new tracks ere long.

we recently created two mixes of the track the village at rest by the band uncertain (from their aether: musick for moths album, which you can hear - and download for free - here. we've also created several 'for the fun of it' unofficial coil mixes, which you can listen to (and download for free) at the same link.

we're very pleased to announce also that we have a track coming out on a compilation album shortly, and hope to be able to give you full details in our next update.

our latest free track of the week is deepblue2519, from our forthcoming third album shamania. listen - and download - here.

mu-ur mothership

another of our unofficial, 'for the fun of it' coil mixes, this blends elements of the tracks the mothership and the fatherland and mu-ur from coil's 1999 album astral disaster. we always thought mothership... worked best as an extended intro to mu-ur and wanted to combine the two to see how it came out. the first mix of this we did ran to over half an hour, but we hacked it down to a more manageable 18 minutes. if that sounds excessive, bear in mind that the original two tracks combined add up to 45.06. please note that this is not in any way an 'official' mix or endorsed by coil or their trustees. please also note that we do not claim or pretend to have ownership of this track or its copyright. we have created this track purely for our own entertainment and share it freely.

furthur

we've created another 'for the fun of it' coil remix.

this one combines elements of the two different coil tracks, who'll fall? and is suicide a solution? (together with another coil track as coda), along with quite a bit of subtle tweaking and tinkering. it's odd that it clocks in at around the same length as both coil versions, which wasn't planned at all.

uncertain

we've created two remixes of the track the village at rest by uncertain, which you can hear on our soundcloud page.

the first - the solar mix -

the second -the lunar mix - is a much more minimal version.

first dark ride

we've been having all sorts of problems with making music over the last couple of months, and figured playing around with other people's tracks might be a good way of easing ourselves back in.

herewith a 'just for fun' reworking of one of our favourite coil tracks, first dark ride. we've never been too keen on the lengthy middle section, and wondered what the track would sound like without it. we've subtly though severely messed with the intro, massively truncated the middle section and tweaked the end. it clocks in at under half the length of the original; perhaps we'd jokingly refer to it as a "single mix".
